Volunteering at the Botanic Gardens

Members of the community are invited to join the many volunteers who continue to maintain and improve this community facility.

Volunteers assist in all aspects of the work including welcoming visitors, garden and track maintenance, plant propagation, and construction.

Volunteer activities at the Gardens

Volunteers are involved in most aspects of work at the ERBG and no matter what your skills, there is a part for you to play in developing the Gardens. The work to be done includes:

  • Visitor Services
    Meeting and greeting visitors, giving out information, selling plants and souvenirs, assisting in education programs and guided walks.

  • In the Gardens
    Planting, pruning, weeding , mulching, mowing, landscaping, track work and fencing constructing and maintaining paths, signs, bridges and furniture.

  • In the nursery
    Propagating, growing, collecting seeds and cuttings, data entry.

  • Fundraising
    Sausage sizzles, helping at special events, making jams and pickles Assist in education programs for schools.

  • In the Herbarium
    Collecting, pressing, storing and data entry.

How to Become a Volunteer

Join our growing team of volunteers and use your skills to benefit the community. You will meet new friends and learn more about our regional native plants. Talk to a volunteer at the Visitors Centre about how you could be involved.

The first step to becoming a Gardens volunteer is to attend an induction session, held every second month, Please book in with the volunteer on duty in the Visitors Centre or contact Gardens Manager for induction dates and more information.
